Have to Share:

I of course ordered Billy Burke's CD as soon as it was released and wanted to share the funny email the company sent me. I have never ordered from cdbaby.com before but I think they will be my first choice from here on out. Anyone who puts a smile on my face is a keeper in my book!

Today I'm gonna go pick up the tickets for Tuesday night. Even tho I already ordered them, I don't want to wait in line or risk a catastrophe! Then I'm taking my Twilight girls to the mall and I think my boys are actually joining us this time.

"So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?" And he said, "He who showed mercy on him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise." Luke 10:36-7

Driven to the top of the Brooklyn Bridge by despair, the 21-year-old man shouted, "I need help! Nobody cares!" But someone did care. Bridge traffic was halted for an hour while a minister talked him down and police officers risked their lives to assist him on the cable catwalk.

How sad it is that some people live under a crushing load of troubles—some of their own making and others thrust on them by circumstances beyond control. Not everyone announces their plight in such a spectacular way. Often people just bear their sorrow in desperate silence. They appear to be unfriendly, antisocial, hard-to-be-near people. They need to know the love of Jesus. If people are sure God loves them, no burden is too much to bear. But they also need the help of people.

The Good Samaritan didn’t just comfort the wounded man with the message that God loved him and would take care of him. He himself demonstrated God’s love and became part of the answer to the cry for help.

There is many a Brooklyn Bridge and Jericho Road in life. We can be alert to recognize our neighbor’s needs. Someone may be whispering today, "I need help! Nobody cares!" Are we listening?

It's Getting Closer!!

Eclipse is right around the corner!!!! Tomorrow I will be buying tickets for Twilight Club. We're gonna do the trilogy. Twilight at 7:15pm, New Moon at 9:30pm and Eclipse at 12:01am. YAY!! Then we have a hotel room reserved for the night. Jennie works at a hotel on the beach and that's where we're going. I think we'll play all the movie board games. The girls don't want to play Eclipse yet because they don't want to ruin the movie. They won't even watch commercials advertising it! Silly girls.

The boys are slowly trudging along with school. They're such good boys. They don't even give me grief over not having a "summer" break. Though they will be mostly reading during school hours this summer. Brandon is currently into the Lightning Thief books. Brett is still reading the Cirque de Freak books and the twins just grab a random book and read. They haven't really been interested in series of books yet.

I just finished Breaking Dawn. I read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner as soon as I finished Eclipse and WOW! I hope Stephenie tells Freaky Fred's story too! And of course Nessie & Jacob's story, and I hope she goes back to Edward's story. Hey how about the nomads and the Denali Clan and....I simply can't get enough of her vampire world! I've been tempted to read The Host but haven't quite gotten the desire yet. Now I'm reading Bitten & Smitten by Michelle Rowan. It's ok so far. Found it at the Goodwill for 75cents.

OK that's all I have to say for now. :)

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.” Luke 6:35

I don't know if you've noticed, but this sinful world is a pretty selfish place. That's why, when I hear of an especially caring act, I'm glad to share it with others.

Not so long ago, I read of a small-town barber who noticed that he had quite a few new customers walking in the door. Business was booming and, without trying to appear ungrateful, he poked around to find out why.

It took a bit, but he was soon told that the other barber in town had had minor surgery and wouldn't be able to get back to work for a few more weeks.

Amazingly, at the end of every week, the Christian barber took all the extra money he had earned and gave it to his competitor.
I did tell you the barber was a Christian, didn't I?
A Christian showing Christian compassion.

When I heard the story I wondered, "Would I have acted that way?" Let's take that thought one step further. Would I have even thought of doing something of that kind?

I just don't know. I do know this: from now on, I will try, in the Name of Jesus, to go that extra mile. I'd like to invite you to join me.
It won't cost you very much. Certainly nowhere near what it cost the Savior to rescue us from sin, death and devil.

Indeed, it costs Jesus' people so little to be kind and generous; and it mends so many fences when we go just a bit out of our way to reach out.

It's a wonderful lesson from a Christian barber - - a lesson for a pastor like me and a person like you.

Holy Crow!!

What a crazy couple of days! The mall was a blast! Some of the girls decided they were hamsters! Seriously! They got into these ginormous plastic balls and floated around on water. Craziness!! Friday we celebrated Brandon's 16th birthday. I can't believe I have a 16 year old! Where does the time go? He is such a blessing and a joy. He is very respectful and such a protector of his little brothers. He has a great head and he is a fine young Christian man. I thank God everyday that he has become the person he has.

Saturday I worked. Sunday was church then work. Monday I worked on getting things cleaned up in my room. I haven't had a dresser in a month and one is coming today. Yay!

I know it's old news, but I haven't been online in several days. Billy Burke has a for sure release date for his cd. June 22nd I will be at Target and hopefully they will have it. Guess I should do some searching and make sure. The CDs are in limited supply so if you plan to get one do so right away! You can also order it in a digital format but I want the disc. And do you know that he's having a release party and is giving away tickets! I so wish I lived in Cali! All the info is on his website: billyburke.net

Have a great day!

"Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.” Matthew 10:29

In today’s Scripture verse, Jesus tells us that not even a sparrow falls to the ground apart from God’s knowledge. And if God cares about a sparrow, don't you think He cares about you as a believer?

Well He does. It’s an amazing thought that the God who made the stars and calls them all by name is the same God who knows the number of hairs on your head!

Not only does He know the number of hairs on your head, He knows your name. Your name is recorded in God’s infinite mind and heart!

God knows you. He knows your past as well as your future. And the thing He knows better than anyone else is your heart.

Now, that might strike terror into your life at times when you realize that God sees the worst about you! But what’s so wonderful is that even though God knows the worst about you… He loves you anyway!

Perhaps today you feel a little like you’ve let God down somehow. Perhaps you feel ashamed of something from your past… a failure that you can’t seem to get over.

If so, remember that with Jesus, no failure is final. The Lord can restore you! God knows your heart. He knows all about you. He knows what you need… and He wants to meet you at the point of your need today.

Today’s question is…….Will you let Him?

It's an Eclipse Day!!!

Today is gonna be a long crazy day! First right after dropping Dave off at work at 6:50am, Brandon and I hit walmart. He has been wanting a PS3 for forever. Well for his 16th birthday his grandpa gave him $200. He used that combined with some other money he got and his brothers all chipped in the rest. Now we have a 250gb PS3. Boys are thrilled of course. Pulling him away from the set up this morning to start his schooling was funny. He's such a fine young man. I'm so proud of him, and how he has turned out. Now if only he would get a job!!

At 11am the girls and I will be hitting 2 malls. First I gotta hit JC Penney at the pompano mall cuz they just called and my ring is ready. Dave & the boys got me a gorgeous ring for mommy day and I sent it in to be re-sized like a week ago. Can't wait to get it back!! Then we're headed out west to a bigger mall that has Hot Topic. The store was supposed to get in new Eclipse merchandise on Sunday. We'll see if they did. Then we'll have lunch and check out the rest of the mall. Then it's back to good 'ol p-no to pick up Dave from work. Then back to the house and play with our new Eclipse stuff!! YAY! Then I have choir at 5:30 then dinner at 6:30 then Bible study at 7pm. Long day!!

Have a great one!

And the evil spirit answered and said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?" Acts 19:15

Ever watch those TV shows where people do daring and dangerous things - things you might be tempted to think you could do? But there's always a disclaimer 'don't try this at home', or 'don't try this on your own'.

With that in mind let's read: 'God did extraordinary miracles through Paul ... handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.

Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out." Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this ...

One day the evil spirit answered them and said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. Acts 19:15-16

Paul was so empowered by God that he made ministry look easy. So these guys thought, 'I can do that too'. No, you can't - unless God equips you, you'll fall flat on your face!

The seven sons of Sceva were attracted by the wrong things. They wanted the power that Paul had, but they didn't want to pay the price that Paul paid.

God doesn't empower you to do your own thing, He empowers you to do His thing; which is the only thing that matters. Spirit-empowered living cannot be imitated, duplicated, bought, borrowed, or faked - and without it you're no match for the enemy!

Subject: 5 Important Lessons

For the next 5 days I'm going to share another email I got from my friend Joyce. Who knows if it's true...who cares! The lessons are valuable and I believe they will touch your heart if you let them. Have a great day!!

Shelly

Subject: 5 Important Lessons

1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During my second month of college, our professor
Gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student
And had breezed through the questions until I read

The last one:

"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the
Cleaning woman several times. She was tall,
Dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question
Blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if
The last question would count toward our quiz grade.
"Absolutely, " said the professor. "In your careers,
You will meet many people. All are significant.. They
Deserve your attention and care, even if all you do
Is smile and say "hello."

I've never forgotten that lesson.. I also learned her
Name was Dorothy..

Now for Pastor Hersch,
And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?" Matthew 11:2–3

Have you ever had something happen in your life that caused you to say, “Where is God?” No less than the greatest prophet who ever lived, John the Baptist, faced this struggle.

John had put it all on the line for Jesus. He had baptized Him in the Jordan River. He pointed his own disciples to Jesus, whom he believed was the Messiah. John had clearly pledged his complete loyalty to Jesus.

Yet a strange series of events took place after that. One moment, he was out preaching to the multitudes and baptizing people. The next moment, he was in prison.

The great John the Baptist began to entertain some doubt. So he sent his disciples to Jesus with this question, “Are you really the Messiah we’ve been waiting for, or should we keep looking for someone else?”

Jesus’ disciples and John commonly believed that Jesus would establish His kingdom then and there.

But they failed to recognize that before Jesus would establish His kingdom, He would first come to suffer and die for the sins of humanity. John misunderstood the prophecies of Scripture, and therefore felt that Jesus was not doing what He was supposed to do.

Sometimes we, too, misunderstand God and His Word when He doesn’t do what we think He should do or when He doesn’t work as quickly as we would like Him to. But even when we cannot understand God’s ways, His methods, or His timing, He still asks us to trust Him. And He is trustworthy.

my dad sent me this...

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle.
It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
I thought to myself, 'Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd.'

I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.
His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him...
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes

My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.
As I handed him his glasses, I said, 'Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives.' He looked at me and said, 'Hey thanks!'

There was a big smile on his face.

It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.
As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before..
He said he had gone to private school before now.
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.

We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends
He said yes..
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.

Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.
I stopped him and said, 'Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!' He just laughed and handed me half the books.

Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends..
When we were seniors we began to think about college.
Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke.
I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem.
He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship..

Kyle was valedictorian of our class.
I teased him all the time about being a nerd.
He had to prepare a speech for graduation.
I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak Graduation day, I saw Kyle.
He looked great.
He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.
He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.
He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.
Boy, sometimes I was jealous!
Today was one of those days.

I could see that he was nervous about his speech.
So, I smacked him on the back and said, 'Hey, big guy, you'll be great!'
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled.
' Thanks,' he said.

As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began
'Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends.....
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story.'

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the first day we met.
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.

'Thankfully, I was saved..
My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable..'
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.

I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.
Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.
Never underestimate the power of your actions..
With one small gesture you can change a person's life.

For better or for worse....
God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way.
Look for God in others.

'Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.'

There is no beginning or end.. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift.

And here's a new Eclipse clip:

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! Psalm 139:17

John was considered by many to be one of the most influential men in American business. He controlled millions of dollars, was responsible for employing millions of workers, and made decisions that affected millions of people's lives. He spent time with most of the truly important people in the world; but no one more important, in John's mind, than the Lord.

Schedules were always packed full, but never so full that John didn't take some time with God. No decision was made without consulting the Lord. When so much depended on the integrity of Luke's decisions, he wanted to make sure he took into consideration the Word of the Lord. To do less would be absurd.

The counsel of the Lord should be precious to us all. God holds the sum of all wisdom and knowledge. He is the ground of all common sense. Why wouldn't we want to consult the Lord when we make the important decisions in our lives? Doing less is absurd.

Brighid's Quest ~Book 5 ~ Partholon Series

OK, soo sorry I didn't get back in here. It's been a long week! We finally celebrated the twins birthday on the 31st. Only a couple weeks late...I hate when my family gets sick! But everyone finally was better and we were able to have a pool party for the twins. What a blast! Everyone, and I do mean everyone had fun. Even my 2 teenagers who swore they would not be going outside were thrilled. They of course were throwing the girls into the pool. Maybe that's why they had fun?

OK so let me finish my book reviews. Book 5 in the Partholon series is Brighid's Quest. Brighid is a female centaur. She left the Centaur Plains and joined Elphame in her desire to bring life back into MacCallan Castle. In doing so she found herself in love with Elphame's brother Cuchulainn.
It was an odd and strange love because Brighid didn't believe it was meant to be.

The two of them had a long journey ahead of them as they helped the New Formorians gain entrance into the MacCallan Castle and in that journey was when they would fall in love. Brighid had to deal with the personal family issues that she was running away from in the first place as she was to be a high shaman. Her quest takes you through the struggles of right and wrong and how sometimes family isn't always right.
Often what appears to be wrong because history has said so is actually what's right.

I loved the books! I couldn't put them down and I admit I'm annoyed that they are over. P.C. Cast is a phenomenal writer and she totally sucks you into the worlds she creates in her books. There was so much humor and sadness that I often found myself laughing and tearing up as I read. Again these books are not for children! And personally I don't think teens should read them either but that's your call.
To read all the reviews in this series: http://adamscaneshouse.blogspot.com/p/book-reviews.html

“They received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily..” Acts 17:11

Many times you have to 'live' with a Scripture until it takes root within you and begins to grow. Butterflies cover more ground, but bees gather more honey.

Sometimes you have to stay with a particular Scripture until you extract the honey.

God may work on one area of your life for several weeks, or months. It takes time to change ingrained character traits. New habits and ways of thinking are not formed in a day. We must be aware of this and let God reinforce a new truth in our lives. Don't fool yourself into thinking that just because you've read a certain truth, it'll produce instant change. It must be applied, and that takes time!

A well-known author writes: “On one occasion my application was to work on the quality of sensitivity. It took several months for God to build that into my life. I needed to see how this quality related to all areas of my life. He kept putting me into situations where I was tempted to do the opposite - to be insensitive. He may do the same with you. God may teach you to love others by putting you in the midst of unlovely people. You may have to learn patience while experiencing irritations, and learn peace in the midst of chaos. You are then discovering how to have joy even in times of sorrow and testing. You must realize that when God wants to build a positive quality into your life, He must allow you to encounter situations where you choose to do the right thing instead of following your natural inclinations.”

The real test is, 'How will applying this Scripture to my situation help me become more like Jesus?'
